Affiliated vs. Non-Affiliated

Then you'd better not be affiliated...because affiliation is UPC pulpit ownership.

We voted on becoming non affiliated earlier this year. Passed by @ 80 %

Ours passed by 99%...only one vote against disaffliating, and it was a person who was confused and meant to vote the other way...LOL!!!

How would the feel about that pastor leaving the UPC thereby taking the church "out of fellowship"?

There were a few people in our vote meeting that we could not get it thru their heads that we were NOT leaving the UPC but only changing our status to a non affiliated church.

We had one "standards legalist lady" that left over it and went to a nighboring church preaches the clothsline as gospel.

Overall the church is growing.

Glad to hear that!

I didn't think I'd be leaving the UPC when we disaffiliated either...but things were set in motion very quickly after the vote...

Around here disaffiliation put a big ole target on our church....

Yes, I know a pastor whose church just became non affiliated this year.

He applied to forien mission and met the board at conference last month.

The board tore him up over this and did not appoint him.

I believe it....

I guess they just figure, if a guys disaffiliates he must have some level of disloyalty....even if that isn't true....
