when I read this today I wondered if JKRowlings found herself "on the spot" and just blurted something out. But then I read further. I enjoyed the books, but I am seriously disgusted with her and the things she has said in the interviews quoted in this article.
In fact, as much as I enjoyed the Harry Potter series, I don't know that I will read much more of her stuff.
On the other hand, we all (or most of anyway) read fictional books all the time by authors that we would never agree with on most of what they believe. We enjoy their stories, but don't agree with their life-style. I just call that "life".

I stopped reading fictional books of that genre when I came to the Lord. Seriously. Maybe it's my background. Most of that stuff is not purely fictional. The lands and names are fictional but many of the concepts and terms are every day paganism and even witchcraft and demonism.

- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Do you have a background in witchcraft and demonism?

No, but I came close. I have a background in understanding because of friends that dabbled in it. I also have a back ground in reading fantasy books that were based on magical arts and terms, but packaged in something that was billed as just a fantasy book.
I was a hard core D&D player before it became a video game. In and of itself it was just a role playing game, but some of the things contained in them were taken from real paganistic religions. For example the monster manual, a book containing all the possible monsters contained names of Demons found in real mythology and paganism.
One possible "spell" is "Gate", in which you "gate in" a demon to do your bidding.
Some spell casters were "necromancers"...you can see a real necromancer almost 3 times a week on the Montel Willions show....she talks to the dead...or claims she does (or thinks she does)

I do. I disagree with Praxeas. I haven't read a fantasy book with any magick in it that's based in any reality. Now, I haven't read every fantasy book out there...lol But I have read a few.
*I* who have to be extremely cautious of things that are no problem for most people, have no problems with Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings. I did get rid of the Sword of Truth series though...lol (not due to magick..kind of adult themed...lol)
