Just woke up to catch up in the latest. 4new fires have developed in San Diego County and some of those in populated areas. As Prax stated, at times yesterday you could look out and it looked like night and at other times it looked like blue skies. I am surprised they have not shut down all schools due to the air quality, but if this gets more serious, that will happen.
Pray that the winds die down. That is the enemy at this point. Winds are supposed to die down on Wednesday but I do not see an end to this until Friday.
Horrible.

Praying that the winds will die down, and that the Lord will send rain to put out the fires...

SoCali, I watched a little bit on the news about the fires this morning. It is sad.
As bad as losing stuff is, personal safety is far greater than material possessions. I pray for safety of the people there.

According to an article on yahoo news, they suspect the cause of the fire may have been downed power lines.
Quote:
"This fire is zero percent contained, which means we're at the mercy of the wind," acting Malibu Mayor Pamela Conley Ulich said.
In all, five homes and two commercial buildings had been confirmed lost throughout the Malibu area, Los Angeles County Fire Chief P. Michael Freeman said. Nine more homes were damaged, he said.
The fire is expected to burn for another two to three days, he said. Until the blaze is extinguished, "there will literally be thousands of homes that will be threatened at one time or another," he said.
The fire may have been started by downed power lines, Capt. Mike Brown said.

Absolutely. The County has had to find more evacuation centers because the places they were using as evacuation centers are now in the fire path. Got to work this morning, and we have several staff members who are in the evacuation area and will not be coming in. Should be interesting to see how some of the schools are going to function with staff who live in the eastern and northern part of our county.

The winds are bad and some of the fires that have popped up overnight have been the result of blown transformers. I know the electric company here has cut power to the fire prown areas and are sending less power to some of the more "sensitive" areas.
