A friend of mine talked to their niece yesterday and the niece's friend who goes to a Large church here in CA. that's pulling out called her and said" what side are you on " ? the niece said " i'm not on any side". the other girl said" well if you stay UPC we can no longer be friends"

You know. I have a hard time believing stuff like this. I am from one of the most backward UPC districts there is and I just don't hear stuff like this.

Believe you me DG, we live it, breathe it, and even have to smell it! - you just cannot imagine how polorizing it is out here.

Believe it! It happened to my family, folks turned their backs on us when they saw us and would not speak to us even ones we considered our closest friends. Even my son who attended a UPC church at that time where he goes to school was told he was not welcomed back to our original church that we had left.

This kind of stuff is Lame and irritates the fire out of me

It is true Rosebud but people from other areas can't comprehend it. the south has a totally different vibe then the west. the west is wild and lives for a good gun fight. it's always been like that. they thrive on a rukus

OH, this kind of thing happens in the South, too - Thad. Leave an Independent Church and go to a UPC church and it happens. Leave a UPC church and go to an Independent Church and it happens. Go to what others call a "Charismatic" church and you're roadkill. At my age, this type of thing no longer matters much to me personally. A stinking judgmental spirit is where the real "roadkill" smell is coming from. I see churches imploding, babies killed within the womb of the church and others standing at the door to prevent the entrance of those who should be welcomed. It's not a "Western" vibe. The gun fights are notorious in my neck of the woods. Dodging bullets has become an art form.

Good post. I have no reason to doubt you are right.I sat and talked to a former Dist. Supt. in a southern State this weekend at a conf. and he wass telling us some of the stuff he dealt with. it's amazng how childish Grown Men and leaders can behave- no wonder the saints are like they are sometimes

I am from the same district and it is VERY common in southern parts of that district.
