How much do you know? And what do you reject on basis of what you know?
However, that's not accounting for deception. One could say, "I know the trinity is right" but they're sadly decieved. I could say, "I know so-and-so about divorce and remarriage." Now if I teach/preach otherwise I'm damned. If I prove it to you in the Scriptures, and you reject it, you are damned. If I fail to lift my voice and cry aloud the truth of GOD's Word I am damned. Today I had to tell someone the truth about this, and how she was still bound to her first husband as long as he lives. She didn't take it too well since she had married a second time. However, she is currently divorced from the first and the second. I prayed that GOD would give her the strength to stay single- she didn't like that very much, but it was the truth. Now, she's not Apostolic to begin with, so she's already in trouble, but if this teaching can save her from the sin of adultury and if she can eventually be brought into the Church, then the goal will be fufilled.
Also, although convictions and standards are not doctrines, they can lead one to damnation if not followed, or if not rightgeously implemented, or at least that's how I see it. If I am convicted that long-sleeves is the right way to go and I wear short sleeves, well... It's a hard thing to say I'd go to hell over it, but it's something to consider. I haven't been convicted in this way, so I have liberty on the matter, although I judge when to wear long-sleeves to the best of my discretion, if I was truly convicted for life or for a season and I disobey, well, I'm at least at a bad place spiritually I don't want to be at, eh?
GOD BLESS!

What do you mean by "convicted?" Does the Holy Spirit speak to some people telling them to wear long sleeves and others to wear short?
I've heard this most of my life and at times I even sought God for guidance on many of these "minor" issues but I have never felt or heard anything voice that tells me what sleeve lenghth is going to get me to heaven.
When I got married I didn't even discuss the issue of rings with my bride. Her parents didn't wear wedding bands and so I assumed that issue was settled. Sadly, (and young men, learn from my ignorance!) my bride actually craved a ring so she wouldn't have to tell the guys she worked with to buzz off. The ring would tell them. I actually failed to give her something that she felt she needed for protection. I failed her because I thought I was "godly."
The Holy Spirit never told me anything about this kind of stuff.

Ok I will give an example of how false doctrine can doom souls. Men teach you cannot be perfect in Christ. Yet Jesus says, "Be perfect even as the Father in Heaven is perfect". Matt. 5:48
So believers assimilate the doctrine of men and distance themselves from the truth. They say things like "we all sin every day". Or "Christians are not perfect just forgiven".
So they dont exercise their faith toward overcoming sin. Rather they think its normal for a Christian to continue sinning as opposed to cease from it.
Then when Jesus judges them it looks like THIS:
2: Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
3: Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
4: Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
5: He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
6: He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Rev. 3:2-6
So here we see names will be blotted out of the book of life because "works were not perfect". Yet souls were taught regularly that their works could NOT BE PERFECT.
So if having name blotted out of the book of life means damnation in Hell there is an example of false doctrine leading to the death of the soul.

This is good, Brother. But, would you define "perfect"? How do you define being perfect? Now, how does God define the same word? he referred to Job as "a perfect man". What does that mean? From your point of view. Then from God's perspective? Good thought and good discussion here.

Once again... I was just using an example... If someone is really strongly convicted about something and they disobey they could end up in hell, that's all I was saying. I used an example there that I am not convicted about, but I know people who are, and for them it would be sin, unless the LORD were to change their conviction.
When I saw that my example was misunderstood I used another about something I would be convicted about, and how if I were to disobey a conviction of mine I could end up in hell.
GOD BLESS!

Dear Brother, you must move on to more significant things in the Lord, you are wallowing in the shallows, my friend. God is much more mature than to be hung up on such smallness.
If you are convicted over short sleeves and modest wedding rings, you are fearful and unbelieving, move on, move on up.
Arise mighty man of God, above the muddy shallows. Such convictions are just distractions from the greater purpose of scripture.

And to think I get criticized for not being con enogh! Whew! That is some really intersting stuff to ponder. "The length of my sleeves will have a bearing on where I spend eternity?" THis can't be a serious statement...really!
So, then, a conviction is elevated to the same level as salvational doctrine? THat is really scary!!!!!!!!!!!! The Hawk ain't afraid of much but that is just scary!!!!!!!!!
