I would be very surprised if Bro. Price planned on leaving UPC!

CM, I wouldn't be surprised if Bro. Price went, but I would be suprised if Bro. Brown did, if he did it would be because of the former (IMO). Allard surprises me, I really doubt that one, and I thought that the Shoemake thing was up in the air. There is no doubt though that CA is going to be taking a lot of hits.

Well I am curious about the whole thing and who will go and who will stay and the resons why... is res 4 a good excuse or the real reason...personally in my opinon leaving over TV is just such a small thing to seperate over...I would like it a lot though if the oranization took a more liberal stance on things and learned to fellowship with other churchs...

STS, the folks that are leaving now, by and large see Res4 as final straw.

They feel that the UPCI has been moving in a direction they do not like for many years, and while they stood and fought for a long time, they see this as proof of a rising tide against them.

I dare say the vast vast vast majority of these men are standing on conviction and simply have decided that it is better to withdraw and stay faithful to their belief.

It does seem to some of us that there are a few who see this as an opportunity. I think everyone hopes this doesnt become a bitter struggle.

When the AMF was formed, there was bad blood on both sides with hard words and actions done by many who stayed and many who left.

I pray this time that both sides can find their own way with kindness even if each side is very different in their beliefs.

ferd, thanks again for a thoughtful and worthwhile post IMO.

In my pondering of the whole 'realignment' motion enabled during seasons like this, I am concerned that there is a missing part involving a setting where I feel compelled to ask..."are we fellowshipping with likemindedness or are we demanding likemindedness?".

Fellowship networks are the only sustainable manner in which a diverse membership can have means to connect and serve common goals. Without such a premise, each member gradually becomes an unintended subject under a denomination or a some kind of enabling legislation via an organizational manual.

I hope the dialogue that happens in Tulsa can grapple with new structures for defining how the individual members connect.

Is it true one of the requirements is a 49" girth?

There are a couple of Allard's in Ca. One would not surprise me at all.

That list of the 49er elders doesn't look quite right to me...

The 49er elders are:
Bill Walsh
Joe Montana
Dwight Clark
Jerry Rice
John Taylor
Roger Craig
Steve Young
Ronnie Lott
Tom Rathman
ect...
