Good point! I believe it refers to both.

Sounds like we have some really good discussion going here. Felicity has some really good and well thought out posts. I will say that much of her experience may have been as a child as she has been married to her Pastor for quite a while. Her present Pastor is a good man of integrity.

Many of today's Pastors are not/do not know how to be servants. They do not answer phone calls until they have been through the church administrator and never give out home or cell numbers. Before anyone gets their "Rhoni hates men" false assumption going...I am not talking about my Pastor as I have been blessed with an awesome one who is worthy of "double honor".

Back in the day...I was at the beck and call of the saints in the church and never asked any saint to do what I did not participate in or do myself. Like Felicity, I found myself taken advantage of by saints who were more like sheepdogs than most of my Pastors were.

I do worry about some of the present day Pastors that have 'control issues'. Someone has stated on here that those who drive their saints - you can tell they are demanding a respect that does not belong to them [paraphrased]. I would have to agree.

Those Pastor's who truly love God and people are easy to spot and have a shepherd's heart and will lay down their lives for the sheep. People are blessed to have such a man of God in their lives. I am blessed to have an awesome Pastor. He gets my respect because the way in which he leads is driven by love and not power/control.

Blessings, Rhoni

I am very thankful for my pastor!! (and yes, I even have his home phone and both his and his wife's cell phone #'s!) He, too, is driven by love and I feel very honored to sit under his ministry. He is probably without a doubt the best Pastor I have had the privilage to sit under.

The system is not right based on the integrity of the individual pastor in charge. I believe it was intended to be more of a 'by commitee" for the simple purpose that an individual with sole authority like most OP churches lends itself to obvious temptations and problems which puts itself in question by default. 100% Tithing to one leader within the congregation doesn't makes sense either and is a far stretch to prove scriptually.

Next time your church has a buisness meeting I dare anyone to disclose the tithing account for the year. They don't here. Not being rebellious.

The controlling Pastors who fail to disclose the church finances are hiding quite a bit of sin...I should hope to say
