15 pages of 8.5x11 notes that they flip through...

Stories they start and do not finish.

Make a point and say we will get to this later.

How I preach:

The same preparation that I go with in a board meeting to present a million dollar technology persentation.

Memorize your sermon and leave an opening for the anointing to move.

Understand the theme of your sermon.

When your mind goes blank get back to a question that you are trying to have the folks in pew answer....

We expect our music ministers to sing and know their words and notes.

So why do we put up with lazy ministers who have to bring notebooks and PC's into the pulpit???

That bothers me....

They would not last 2 weeks if they were reviewed by the men and women in my professional business life....

We use power point in our presentations.

They are expected.

We should not expect a computer in the pulpit unless they are using powerpoint and we see the presentation.

I think there needs to be a retreat where some of these men go and understand the way to preach.

They should attend a session every year....

What is wrong with a preacher using a laptop? I use mine and I will tell you why. I am a full time evangelist and instead of have 4 or 5 brief cases full of notes I have them all stored on my computer. It saves packing room and everything is organized.


When I go to the pulpit I am not trying to make a presentation. There is a difference in preparing to speak at a corporate business meeting and preaching. That being said, I don't trust my memory enough to go into a buisness meeting to make a presentation with out notes of some sort. I would have points I wanted to make in a certain order and I would want them outlined in front of me to make sure that I go in the proper order so I arrive at the desired results. With preaching I am wanting to bring people to a place where they come face to face with God and how God sees them. If that takes an hour of preaching my notes then ok, If that is a hour where I never look at my notes then ok. If it happens 10 minutes after I start preaching and I have pages of notes left then that is ok to. When I start preaching I am looking for the right place to give the altar call and necessarly finish my notes.

I do not agree. I am both a preacher and a successful sales professional.

The team that wins the deal in most cases without inside cheating.

Is the team most polished.

John Chambers CEO Cisco gave a presentation on who coming into his office and stays beyound 5 minutes.

They better know what they came to say and show that they understand what they came to say.

I have never been asked to leave or told not to come back...

Most folks in the pew turn you off at the click of your mouse pad and the pushing of your notes in the pulpit..

If I told the CEO, CFO, CII, CTO.... Just a minute let me look through my notes.

Or if I even read from a white paper they get turned off...

They want to meet with professionals that believe they belong in the same room with them.

The problem with your concept is you are preaching to very successful and professional people more and more today.

In many cases we are no longer preaching to just the simple minded....

When ever an evengelist has been at any church I attended.

You would be amazed at what is discussed by the saints, staff members, youth etc.

It is not always the content of your sermon.

It is the delivery and the anointing....

You are presenting the gospel....

Delivery and anointing is very important. Without the anointing we can not preach.

As far as people being turned off when I pull out my computer I don't believe that. I just don't think it happens or no one has ever shown it.

Steadfast preaches from a laptop and he preaches in a LOT of places. Maybe he could share his view on if it has ever had negative feedback for him. As for me I found it positive.
