Peavey makes a great portable system that rolls on wheels and goes for 500-700 bucks. I think it is called the Passport?

Wow so your going to spend some dinero...in that case, a lot of guys use powered speakers so you don't have to carry around an amp. Just a mixer...some even have built in effects so you can sound great and carry around less!!! Many of these speakers have great bottom end so you don't have to do the subs/crossover expense?? Just thoughts from a monkey...
