But that's the point...it's not disrespectful according to the authorities on the issue. It's only disrespectful according to you. Personally, I would have put my hand over my heart. But I understand that it's not a requirement nor is it disrespectful.
And even if Obama felt the need not to salute in traditional fashion over what he believes to be American hubris at home and abroad...that took some guts and conviction. Phony patriotism always salutes it's country right or wrong...a true patriot takes his stand to confront his nation believing that his country when right to be kept right...when wrong to be made right.

I was pointing out a fact. I would stand with my hand over my heart.
I served 8 years in the military. I served as a tanker (19K) and then as a Combat Medical Specialist (91B10). My job was to risk my own neck to save our soldiers...also...to treat and protect enemy wounded.
Preservation of life and unit strength was my mission and sole reason for existance when wearing the uniform.
