Jesus was a pacifist. So was Stephen. Can you provide ONE example of a Christian using violent resistance or lethal force against an enemy in the New Testament? If not...be advised...it's better to stand pure before God than appear patriotic before men.

Do any of you believe God was pleased when we vaporized thousands of Japanese children? Perhaps we didn't have a choice in regards to the earthly point of view...but do you think God applauded this?
Maybe God just removed his hand of protection and used us to bring the Japanese to their knees?

Well, maybe I am becoming a softie in my old age (I am turning 41 this year, ya know), but, after thinking about it during this conversation, it seems to have been overkill in the worst way possible. I don't pretend to be an expert on WWII, and I know that the Japanese were a fierce enemy when they were our enemies, but the idea that my government was willing to kill so many innocent people, rather than continuing to fight that war with conventional weapons, just doesn't sit right with me.
I don't think you're getting soft. You're just thinking for yourself and deeply considering the moral implications of national actions and policies.

But that's the point...it's not disrespectful according to the authorities on the issue. It's only disrespectful according to you. Personally, I would have put my hand over my heart. But I understand that it's not a requirement nor is it disrespectful.
And even if Obama felt the need not to salute in traditional fashion over what he believes to be American hubris at home and abroad...that took some guts and conviction. Phony patriotism always salutes it's country right or wrong...a true patriot takes his stand to confront his nation believing that his country when right to be kept right...when wrong to be made right.

Now you're catching on. War is a judgment for all involved. That's why we must understand that we are "Christians" and not become too entrenched in this world's conflicts.
Also what about the moral implications of our government knowing the Japanese were going to attack Pearl Harbor? It's been reported by some that we stood by and allowed them to bomb our Navel fleet to justify entering the Pacific theater of war. At the time it would have been political suicide to bring America into WWII because the American people were largely against American involvement.

First off, to state that our government knew the Japanese were going to bomb Pearl Harbor and stood by while it happened is hogwash. What you're saying is akin to treason.
Second, I'm failing to understand how you can say that God was displeased with our bombing of Japan, due to the killing of innocent people, and yet you say that the bombings of 9/11 were "God's wrath" and his judgment on America.
