I feel I should clarify, since this thread was originally about him, I am in no way talking about Bro. Suber or his ministry, nothing could be further from the truth, I was only responding to the thought in the previous post.

I have been taught that the fruits of the spirit are THE evidence of the Holy Spirit and that speaking in tongues is not THE only evidence. Many consider it the initial evidence but tongues is not THE evidence of the Holy Ghost in your life.

Am I off base for thinking this way?

Well, I think John 15 makes it pretty clear that you cannot have the Holy Spirit working in your life and not bear fruit. So, IMO, no, you are not off base, it is not the only evidence.
