Right, I understand. I just haven't, in my experience and in the locations that I have lived, heard the various church leadership use the term - Father God.

More of the charismatics that I have had experience with, in the areas that I have lived, use that term.

Prophet - I hear so many calling anyone that steps behind the pulpit a "prophet". I beg to differ with that.

Sis PO I understand . Here we've saw where other people not familar with group praying (all together) pray separately. Some of them use the different terms also. This happens at memorial services mostly a native service.
I pray your hubby gets to feeling better soon and you also.

What do you mean - it happens at memorial services? Can you be more specific of what is done and said? Thanks!

Well, he says he is doing better, but still isn't eating much. He asked me, this morning, what he could eat. LOL! "You usually eat junk, so don't ask me. I asked you if you wanted oatmeal and you don't, so find something yourself!" Men! Eat chips and dip, I don't care!!!

I feel a little better! Grrrrrrrr!

When they pray each one prays separately. When one finishes another prays.. Some begin with Father god or Heavenly father. Those not christian give thanks to others. Ancestors ,uncles ,aunts etc.
We usually leave after the christian part of the services before the traditional native part begins.
The memorial service is held a day before the funeral. 40 days later is the 40 day party, year later is pay off party.
I have to go for now to work. You may find more on this culture at google search looking for Tlingit Indians.

But, didn't Jesus instruct His disciples, "When ye pray, say Our Father...." (Luke 11:2)?

And in what we call the sermon on the mount, Jesus taught "After this manner therefore pray ye: our Father...." (Matthew 6:9)

At the tomb of Lazarus, "Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, Father..." (John 11:41).

After He left the upper room as He headed for Gethsemane with His disciples, Jesus "lifted up His eyes to heaven and said: Father..." (John 17:1)

Good points, Sam. He didn't say "Father God" though. lol

I have called Him, "Father" on occasion, "Lord" or just "God".

"Father God" just sounds strange to me. I don't know why it does.
