Back to the subject of the thread.

I have pondered yet longer and have one more scenario wherein I would go back to the UPC.

If I were in a terrible accident or suffered from some terrible illness that made traveling the 32 miles to Christ Church impossible then I would temporarily attend the UPC church just five miles from my home. I visited once with a UPC relative and it is a nice church. Plus I have heard good things about the pastor from an esteemed poster here at AFF.

32 miles..wow. I too travel about that far. there is a small ultra con upc 2 miles from my house. There is another conswervative upc about 5 miles away, that is full of what Chax use to call Judgmental Pentecostlas.

I'd go to a Baptist church first.

I drive 30 miles to fellowship with the most freindly non judgemental upc I have ever been in.

I am not sure how much longer we can reamin UPC though. I'd vote to go independant tomorrow if it wss up to me.

Here is another scenario...I could return to the UPC if the church I was in announced it was leaving the UPC immediately after that service.

Hmmm, makes it sound as if it would not matter who the Pastor was. If he is UPC then you would not attend.

Just the opposite my friend. However, if a pastor held to certain things as a matter of culture with no consideration, it would be difficult for me to call him pastor. This would mean I would sit in constant judgement because I was following and holding fast to my own convictions based on the knowledge of the word of God of course, and not in an, "every man did that which was right in his own eyes...kind of...thing.

I know, I know, my comments are going to be polarized, people asking me, "Gee Carp, so you think prostitution, illicit sex, alcoholism, and smoking pot are ok?"

Those people can go jump into the ignorant-lake.
