Re: Hairspray Thread
I am also looking into the trend for not using commercial shampoos.

Some of the things women used before, household products. I believe baking soda is one of the items you can use. Also eggs and mayonnaise are mentioned, although I don't get the whole concept yet. I know mayonnaise is good for hair damaged by perms or other styling products and heat overuse.
I do remember my Mom using vinegar to rinse our hair with, it detangled but required a lot of rinsing. This was before creme rinse and conditioner's.

I couldn't do that. I know beer has been used to wash hair too!
Vinegar is usually for dark hair and lemon juice for blondes.

No Poo Shampoo
2 fl oz distilled water
2 fl oz pure castille soap (I recommend Dr. Bronners)
2 fl oz pure (drinkable) aloe vera gel
1/4 tsp oil (jojoba, almond, avocado or emu work perfect)
put in a clean bottle, shake to mix (the ingredients will separate) A little goes a long way! Apply to scalp, massage in and squeeze the suds (soft water=lots, hard water=a little) thru the ends of the hair. May repeat if you have tons of hair spray etc. in your hair... usually I don't need to...
Egg Shampoo
1 egg
1/4 tsp oil (see above)
1 tsp lemon juice
1 TBS pure castille soap
1/2 Cup distilled water
blend these together (a whisk works well) and cleanse your hair... ACV rinse afterwards..

Then avoid hospitals, that is the favored dessert at most of them.

It's going to be in the 90's today with 25 mph gusts, so I decided to skip that ole sticky hairspray and let it blow in the wind!
