Re: Your experience when you dropped "dress standa

what scares me is that most I know seem to not stop with just dress and appearance.
they end up believing things that are frankly quite frieghtening.

Rico when I pastored I was NOT a control freak however if a pastor loves the people he is pastoring he is going to warn them strongly at times abouts trends that can turn into sins.

When you say dress and appearance what do you mean?

For instance are we talking about those who now wear a wedding ring, and sleeves above the elbow?

Or is it the ladies who cut their hair?

Or the men that grow a beard?

I know there are variances within the UPC.
the Westcoast is more conservative then the midwest
of the UPC for instance. I've come to the conclusion
that they can handle it. Why? because the people in the
midwest have deeper roots then CA. people and there is
a lot more evil out here to pull people into sin. so maybe
they need more discipline ???
Anyhow, I'm talking about the ones who go totally
charismatic.

I was trying to make the point that "dropping standards" can be relative to where you were before, and what you agreed with in the beginning.

You know, there were things that my parents taught me, that I "dropped" after I became an adult. My Dad didn't hold it against me or call me "backslid." He knew I was old enough to make my own decisions.

I have been one of the strongest advocates that the forums come from a traditional Oneness Pentecostal perspective and that those of us who consider ourselves Progrssvie Pentecostals or Neo Pentecostals be the ones presenting the different take on things from that orthodoxy.

I have always wanted a strong contingent of OP's from across the philosophical spectrum here (with the exception of cultic sects like Branhamites, etc)
