That's just my personal opinion, coming in. You know, there are Indian women who have little studs in the sides of their noses, and they look very pretty. But over here, that makes you kind of a punk. (Again, JMO)
I do think there is validity to separating yourself from certain cultures--that is my point.

so we should allow body piercing according to what culture allows?
when tattos become mainstream, the church should allow that too?
Maybe that's why Todd Bentley(lakeland revival) is so widely accepted
in the charismatic church now. He is COVERED with tattos and facial
piercings and no one harldy bats an eye.

Well, yes and yes. The Bible clearly speaks favorably of the first and never condemns the second.
Gifts for Rebekah.
Genesis 24:22
When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out a gold nose ring weighing a beka and two gold bracelets weighing ten shekels.
Genesis 24:30
As soon as he had seen the nose ring, and the bracelets on his sister's arms, and had heard Rebekah tell what the man said to her, he went out to the man and found him standing by the camels near the spring.
Genesis 24:47
"I asked her, 'Whose daughter are you?' "She said, 'The daughter of Bethuel son of Nahor, whom Milcah bore to him.' " Then I put the ring in her nose and the bracelets on her arms,
Look at all those things Israel is wearing. God is taking it away as a punishment, not to purify them.
Isaiah 3:18-23
In that day the Lord will snatch away their finery: the bangles and headbands and crescent necklaces, the earrings and bracelets and veils, the headdresses and ankle chains and sashes, the perfume bottles and charms, the signet rings and nose rings, the fine robes and the capes and cloaks, the purses and mirrors, and the linen garments and tiaras and shawls.

Isn't it funny how some will spend more time defending the expectations of a denomination then what the Bible clearly speaks.

No real problem exists over the use of "The Name" in everthing else done in the Church. Why then should there exist great controversy over the use of the "The Name of the Godhead" in water baptism?

Yes, I believe they call it drawing lines or building fences. Common folks can't be trusted to read the Word for themselves so the elite must build these fences around the Word to protect the common folk. It would be much easier if we went back to the days when only the priest were allowed to read the Bible so that these pesky commoners would stop trying to interpret it for themselves. Who do these commoners think they are? Do they dare challenge tradition with mere words from Scripture which they couldn't possible understand on their own?

Soooo? I don't remember Jesus saying, "Because of the hardness of your hearts I allowed jewelry."

Absolutely no one. I just don't want to. I am not compelled to exercise every freedom, but if others want to by all means go for it.

Actually I stated the opposite, or at least I thought I did. There may or may not be exact scripture forbidding body piercing (seems like I remember one, but I'm not sure it's applicable), but in my opinion, it's reflective of a subculture that I don't want to identify with, so therefore as for me and my house--we don't do it.

I really dislike tattoos. LOL!!! That's just a personal preference. And in an uncharacteristic bent of gender discrimination, I like them less on women than men. e.g., a military tattoo on a navy dude doesn't bother me as much as a butterfly on a girl's neck.
Look, the deal is, there AREN'T a lot of scriptures about these things. I'm sure many pastors forbid them for the reasons I just stated.
What do you want me to do? Say there's scripture against tattoos and piercings when there probably isn't? Probably the only reasons the church doesn't allow them today is because of culture and personal preference.
Are we discussing this from the Biblical perspective or from our personal perspectives? When you ask me what my personal opinions are, I'll tell you, but I won't pretend I have Bible to back me up.

I believe you are thinking of Leviticus 19:28 which some have used to teach against tattooing and ear piercing. Although I am not in favor of tattooing this scripture has been taken out of context as it refers to damaging your flesh in a ritual for the dead.
