The racist thing is coming more from them than anyone, IMO.

Here we are as a country being moved by his oratory skills and he has nothing of substance and change to offer. I am amazed. Well, not really. Our Hollywood generation prepared the way for him.
I'm not referring the the shout racism crowd in the context of this election. I just made a parallel about what happens when you have people making alarming claims that don't hold up to just simple scrutiny. You will lose credibilty to the objective viewer.

I am offended by his podium choice, tstew! A diehard American isn't going to change the breastplate on the Eagle!!!! Sorry, bad judgment. I don't care how you look at it.

PO, once again I don't believe it was smart, but it was done by his entire campaign which includes many diverse and politically savvy "diehard" Americans. However that is a far cry from claiming that he wants to change the actual Presidential seal. Once again it is the law that prevents him from using the actual seal and if he could have I'm sure he would have in his attempt to look Presidential.

LOL...that my friend is how a lot of people actually are. I think that this was an effort by his camp to get a little cute with their logo. Since they can't use the actual seal, they did something similar to make people think "Presidential" whenever he was speaking. Incidentally it is much more similar to other gov't logos than the actual seal (color, etc)

He was not a member of his church.
* McCain used to oppose Bush’s tax cuts for the very wealthy, but he reversed course in February.

* In 2000, McCain accused Texas businessmen Sam and Charles Wyly of being corrupt, spending “dirty money” to help finance Bush’s presidential campaign. McCain not only filed a complaint against the Wylys for allegedly violating campaign finance law, he also lashed out at them publicly. In April, McCain reached out to the Wylys for support.

I'll have to look closer into this.

* McCain supported a major campaign-finance reform measure that bore his name. In June, he abandoned his own legislation.
Immigration? Many people have tried to fix this. He realized he needed another plan. Big deal. There are many issues involved. It's not that easy as just securing the borders.

* McCain used to think that Grover Norquist was a crook and a corrupt shill for dictators. Then McCain got serious about running for president and began to reconcile with Norquist.
Have to check into this.

* McCain took a firm line in opposition to torture, and then caved to White House demands.
Not a bad comment to make considering all involved in Iraq and beyond. “make it clear to the world that this government does not torture and that we adhere to the international convention of torture, whether it be here at home or abroad.”

“It’s a done deal,” said McCain, talking to reporters outside the White House.

I don't see the big deal here.

* McCain gave up on his signature policy issue, campaign-finance reform, and won’t back the same provision he sponsored just a couple of years ago.

He's committed to reducing the amount of special interest money involved in politics.

Obama invites questions about how good his word is in regard to campaign financing.

* McCain was against presidential candidates campaigning at Bob Jones University before he was for it.
Have to check into this.

* McCain was anti-ethanol. Now he’s pro-ethanol.
We weren't in an oil crises at the time and he is also for other alternative energy choices and exploration.

* McCain was both for and against state promotion of the Confederate flag.
I'd have to check into this, doesn't seem a big deal.

* And now he’s both for and against overturning Roe v. Wade.
He wants to leave that as a state right choice. That would be constitutional.

PO I like the fact that you responded that you would check into several of those issues. If more people were like that it would make things a lot clearer and less over the top.
