They just don't want to think about it. My pastor was like that for a while. I have a single video of my oldest son but none of the others when they were babies. I was obedient.

Then fifteen years later the same pastor is showing videos of preaching during the Sunday night services because he can't think of anything to preach.

It really is unreasonable for us to expect people to follow us up and down on the roller coaster of our mood swings. This is one huge reason why our movement doesn't grow - we're fickle. We wore jewelry to impress people that we weren't a bunch of hill billies, then we banned jewelry when we decided we wanted to be "holiness."

We grew beards when it was the style of the British monarchy to do so, then we shaved them when Edward became king - then Edward abdicated and ran off with a "loose" American woman but the communists came along with beards, then the hippies.

Meanwhile people with sincere hearts who would otherwise attend our churches are flipping through the pages of their Bibles trying to find out where in the Word we get half the stuff we preach.

I remember a preacher of renown among us preaching how that to wear a ring on your "ring finger" showed that you were "honoring the Trinity." He counted off "Father, Son and Holy Ghost" from his thumb toward his pinkie that left the "ring finger" for the wedding band. But don't wear that! It means "Trinity!"

It never occurred to him that his smooth face was a sign of submission to the Pope - but it has been just that for 1,000 years.

Sometimes I get the feeling that those who left AFF to start their own forum for conservatives actually had a good idea. My suggestion to some of you would be to look into www.justpreachers.com You would probably find conversations there much better suited to your tastes and positions. There is no doubt in my mind some of you would fit in perfectly there.
