What ministers and saints 50 or 60 years ago did or did not wear or adorn themselves with really has no dog in the hunt.

What does it matter if they did or did not. Either way does change one jot or tittle of what the word say's.

That's not what I am saying Dave. I'm saying what our earlier founders did ior didnt do DOES NOT change the word.

As far as history goes, I feel it is imperitive to know some of the history (culture and customs) of the early church in Acts and of our Hebraic heritage and how they viewed things.

David I certainly am not minimizing history but Pentecost history is diverse as you personally know. There were those who accepted jewelry to some extent and some who rejected any jewelry. I am not ignorant to the fact those with "holiness" roots from the Weslyan influence would be more in line with my thinking of what the Bible teacher than those who came from the Baptist roots such Goss and others. Both camps made up the early Oneness movement as well as Pentecost in general like AG & CG.

My point is that history is important to help understand the times and climates that we live in. It affects us and to ignore it is very short-sided.

I think that dismissing one of the pioneer leaders of the OA movement out of hand by saying "who cares what he thought" is not exactly kosher. And just because you don't agree with him doctrinally?

Please Bro. Epley .... I think it's irresponsible and a little disappointing as well.

Just for the record, I want to say what it was like when I came into Pentecost in the middle 1950's, in MY PART OF THE COUNTRY. Seems where you're from could make a difference in what was being taught. I well remember........

Men didn't wear beards, did wear long sleeves and long pants, no drinking or smoking, etc.

Women did not cut their hair, did not wear pants of any kind, didn't wear makeup.....maybe a few did powder their nose to take away the shine.

People were just getting televisions back then. The middle 50's was when I first heard them called a 'one-eyed devil'. Absolutely NO Pentecostal person went to the movies. If they did, you found them in the altar next church service.

As far as I can tell, the AMF folks are about the only ones who still adhere to most of these 'standards'.
