Questions:
1. What makes YOU an Apostolic?
2. Why do you believe you are Apostolic?
3. What teaching from the Apostles do you follow and obey?
4. What teachings have you explained away as not needful?
5. Can one be saved and only obey some of the Apostles doctrine?
6. Why baptize in Jesus Name?
Answers:
1. I believe the Scriptures as written by apostles or by someone connected to an apostle. In my opinion Paul and James were apostles but not part of the original 12 apostles of the Lamb. Luke and Mark were closely connected to apostles. I'm not sure which Jude/Judas/Yehudah wrote the epistle of Jude back toward the end of the NT.
2. See answer number 1
3. I think I follow all their teaching, at least to the best of my knowledge
4. I don't think I have "explained away" any of them. Unless you count some of the things that may only have personal or local application. Like when the Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy chapter 4 where it says:
come visit me in jail quickly verse 9
go get Mark and bring him with you verse 11
stop off at Troas and get the cloak and the books and parchments verse 13
beware of Alexander the coppersmith verse 15
greet Priscilla and Aquila and the household of Onesiphorus verse 19
really try to get here (to Rome) before winter verse 21
5. In my opinion, salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ and happens when one turns in faith to Him from their sins. Doctrine/teaching is received and absorbed and applied through a life time of growth and development.
6. We assume the early church verbalized the name "Jesus" in connection with baptism but we have no actual baptism described where it says what words were used. However,
James 2:7 in some translations seems to imply that a name was called over people when they were baptized. We are authorized by Jesus to baptize people in water. It seems to me that when we do perform that ritual as authorized by Him we would mention His name as the One who authorized us to do what we are doing.
