Re: Jonathon Moore, Mickey Mangun & Russ Taff
Didn't Russ Taff use to have a rocked out kind of style back in the 80s ?

It possibly could have been labeled as rock. When his first solo album "Walls of Glass" was release in 83, it was definately "cutting edge" for Christian music.

Well, only if you rule out Daniel Amos, Steve Taylor, Larry Norman and Randy Stonehill.....

Time has a way of changing our perception of "rock out." I thought I was kind of out there listening to his Imperials "I'm forgiven" I used to love that song. Anyway I found the old tape and put it on the other day. It sounded so different than I remember. It was so disco sounding. Whew, My wife asked if I really listened to that kind of stuff. I found an old Goodmans record that had just piano, drums and guitar. It sounded really out of date.
I was in ORU at the time and Randy Stonehill, Petra, Carmen, Russ Taff, Twila Paris, were some of the more popular.

I have Russ Taff's first three CD's and they all have a very distinct style. His first was very "80's Pop" sounding, while his second was much deeper which reflected some personal stuff he was going through before making it (The Lowlands tells his story), and finally the 3rd was a very down home country rock style.

"Down in the Lowlands" was on his third release (self titled). The "down home country rock style" project was his fourth release called "Way Home".
