Oh come on, now...you can't go saying those things and not tell us at least one story!

Just one short one-
My dad was elected first youth director for the UPC and at the next gen. conf. he petitioned to get funding for the youth dept. by being able to take and keep offerings that they received at youth meetings. Oscar Vouga STRONGLY objected and argued against the proposition. Bro. Goss liked my dad and he forced it to a vote, which passed, and Bro. Vouga stormed out. That nite he and my dad got together and my dad said that Vouga was a real gentleman and they remained friends until Bro. Vouga passed away. My father really looked up to him and appreciated his preaching.

Thanks, Dave, but you don't know how much I dislike politics within the church body. I'm glad you related one with a better ending the most I've heard in this forum!
I read the story of your dad that Bro Sam gave the link to. Did your dad ever see his parents again after they left for Japan without him?

They stayed till rumblings of WW2 broke out. They came back with heavy hearts as they loved the Japanese. After the war they were too elderly to return but they sent tons of cloths in care packages to the displaced refugees.

Re: David F. Grey-- pioneer
I saw that his family was working with Bro. Coote.
When (and why if you can tell it) did Bro. Coote and his Bible School leave the UPC?

My grandparents were with Coote real early on so I don't know when he left.

Around 1956. Got involved with the Latter Rain movment. Falla will know for sure. She was there for a visit with some of our family members in 1955.
