Re: Do you still believe in Corporal punishment?
Some kids deserve a beating.
Some teenagers need a thorough beat down by a man that cares for them. They usually end up getting one, unfortunately, from the police and by then, it's too late.
You can beat your children without crushing their spirits.

Re: Do you still believe in Corporal punishment?
I don't believe that the "beating" should be the first response for most situations. However, by the third time, "SMACK!"
There should be no fourth time.

When little Johnny has his face shoved to pavement with a police officer about to draw down on him, maybe then he'll wish that he had a Mom or Dad that was a little "harsh" on him.
At that point, Officer "Friendly" has already decided that he will go home to his family at the end of his shift-- even if he has to put little Johnny down.
If it ever came to it, I would put my son through 2 walls if it meant my harsh discipline stopped him from ever having to deal with Officer "Friendly" on not so friendly terms.

Re: Do you still believe in Corporal punishment?
I was spanked by my dad very few times as a kid. But I didn't need many to understand the concept of consequence. If I behaved badly, it brought a unpleasant stinging sensation to my posterior region, which I did not particularly care for, so I did my best to maintain proper behavior as defined by my mother and enforced by my father.

I have 3 teen agers - I can't imagine myself "beating" them under any circumstances. The very thought crushes my spirit.
