I've learned that questioning pastors isn't a good idea.
You should always be able to ask questions. Not all Pastors mind explaining things in detail. To me.. that would be major part of being a leader.

Those I questioned saw me as contentious and troublesome. So I stopped questioning and just learned to study for myself.

Wanna know how much I believed it?

Last time I left church (backslid, whatever you want to call it), did 'wore the uniform' and didn't cut my hair for over a year...all while living like the devil.

But hey, I looked saved!

It does have some benefits, Brother. It's been my experience that those super strict isolationist (for lack of a better word) kinds of churches are very tight knit. There does seem to be more of a family feeling to the church experience, in those types of assemblies.

Only if you tow the company line.

Think differently than 'the norm', and you are ousted.

That's been MY experience as a member of such a church for 14 years.

That's the way it is when you don't really have a firm footing in scripture for your doctrine. Rather than point it out clearly in the Word, just tell people that they have a rebellious spirit and need to repent and submit to the authority that God has placed them under.
