Actually, if he were in an accident that required medical attention, he wouldn't have a choice but to have emergency care. After they got him stitched up he'd be free to go, but they wouldn't allow him to die at the accident scene because he was refusing treatment.

And if his injuries were that bad, I doubt he'd be offering up much protest either.

Actually you can always refuse treatment if you are conscious to do so, and it must be respected.
