Re: Hike away from Ike?

Whew! What a week! It has been quite an experience waiting for hours in lines for gas, food, water and ice. Many of the gas stations that have opened only excepted cash and have limited the amount of gas you purchased. Yesterday, I went to three different filling stations trying to get gas. I waited two hours at one location only to be told they had sold out.

This morning, I woke up early and left at 6 after curfew to find some gas and ice. I went to one station and was able to purchase 10 in gas, but I stumbled upon a Valero on the way home which just got power again and was able to fill up my tank. When I arrived home, I walked in my front door and realized my power was turned on! Thank God!

Please pray for the elderly during this time. Many just haven't been able to jockey around for water, food and ice and they have suffered so much.

The good thing about finding that Valero was the gas was still at 3.34/gallon! .

I may have been inconvenience, but there have been so many other people who had it much worse than me. The other day, my heart broke when I visited a 89 yr old widow lady a few doors down.

She had no ice and the only food she had was some old leftovers. She kept saying that she didn't want to burden anyone. Fortunately, after I told a couple of neighbors, we were able to get her some groceries and ice.

I thank God that I have been healthy and able to get around with no problems.

That's the beauty of all of this - helping our neighbors!

So much involved in the situation than even what you mentioned above. You have to consider the horrible mud, mosquitoes, clean up - just a mess!!!

I'm so thankful this cold front is here during this time. I hope it sticks around for a while! Very unusual to have one this eary in the year!!

Re: Hike away from Ike?

I really wish my health was better. So much to do that needs physical labor.

Took me all day yesterday until 6pm to clean up the driveway and a 30 x 30 area"!

You can't take a step in my back yard on that area without stepping on limbs!

Got to get back out there. Had to take a break and cook some lunch, fortunately, I have a gas stove.

I'm nearly out of bread, that is not a good thing.

Running the generator so I can wash and dry some clothes. So back to work.

See you guys later.

P.S.

I saw all the Entery people with their big trucks on my street yesterday and working on my light pole, but unfortunately, it may still be weeks before we get electricity. Thanks for your prayers!
