Maybe I've asked this before, but were you there when Bro. Lucas pastored?

No you haven't asked and no I wasn't. (I think Bro Lucas officiated at my Dad's funeral in 1994). We moved to Decatur where Bro. Homer White pastored and then my dad started a church in Mowequa, Il.
I was youth pastor at a little church in Lakewood, Il. where Dad pastored. Later I attended the Pana, Il. church pastored by my aunt, Sis Eva Hunt because that's where my girlfriend attended. She eventually became my wife for 53 wonderful years. I am now married to another wonderful woman who retired from WEC after 25 years in the SS dept.
Now you almost know my life history. At least the first 18 years.
I still have family in the Vandalia area.

I knew Bro.Lucas since I was a little girl, when he used to come to Grayville and hold revivals. He was a good friend of our family. Years later, my brother Scott Graham assisted him for a while in Vandalia.
When I remember Pana, it was Bro. Mulvaney, I think. If I remember right, that's Sis. Judy Doughty's dad. Could be wrong on that one........
I loved growing up in Southern Illinois, but there were NO other UPC churches anywhere close to us. There was a little one about 25-30 miles away, and the rest were at least an hour. We drove forever to youth rallies and fellowship meetings and never missed one because that was the most fun thing we did all month! When you grow up in a church of 40, rallies are very exciting!!!

Then to Owosso, Michigan under Bro Harold Roberts (another of God's true gems)
back to Toledo, under Bro William Schaffner, a true friend
married Walt and changed to Trinity United Methodist Church in Swanton (not my favorite)
and now to Swanton Alliance Church, under Pastor Andy Brake, until next May when he leaves for the mission field of Indonesia
And that, my friends, is my life story in a nutshell.

I knew a Bro Dennis, a long, long time ago. I met him and his wife in Japan.

I know! And I am so jealous. Give them a big hug from me, will you? They both hold a very, very special place in my heart and always will. Along with their most beautiful daughter

That'd be the same one. The Dennis's left us in Toledo to go to Japan as missionaries. Didn't you just LOVE them!!

Grand Rapids is where my good friends (and former pastor), the Well's are living now in their retirement. Do you know them?

Re: What was the first church you went to?
The first church I remember attending was The Liberty Full Gospel Church of Pensacola,FL which was Trinitarian. It was comprised mostly of former southern baptists who got involved in the Charismatic movement.
Before that my parents attended a Southern Baptist church but I don't remember that.
