What is this "VCR" that everyone keeps mentioning? Is it like a "Cassette tape"? Is this "VCR" something we need to ban?

Well, sonny, way back in the good old days, movies were recorded onto big magnetic tapes. These tapes were placed in big black cases and were "played" on a machine called a video tape player. You could watch the movie, rewind to see something you missed, fast forwrd past the boring parts and alot more.

Those were the good old days. Before that was something called reel to reel tapes. I can remember when reel tapes didn't have sound. That was way cool, 'cause you could make up your own dialog. But, all of that is far too complicated for your young mind.

In other words, video wasn't always in either an MPEG-2, Xvid, or H.264 (otherwise known as MPEG-4) format and you couldn't always get it over your computer, phone, or even photo picture frame on display in the family room?
