How to Save Money

You have

1. A scrubber made from a mesh onion bag. YES.

2.A squirt bottle made of homemade window cleaner. NO. (a friend bought me window cleaner when I moved in....otherwise that'd be a yes)

3. A new soap bar with a sliver adhered. YES

4. A bundle of old socks in the workshop to be used as a grease rag. YES. Not necessarily for grease...but I always save old socks.

5. A pair of pantyhose minus the bad leg. No....but I do have SOCKS like this. If I wore pantyhose I'd have this...but I don't. Do the socks then count as a yes? lol

6. A jug of vegetable broth in the refrigerator. Frozen chicken broth in the freezer. I'm going to vote yes here.

7. A 20 quart box of powdered milk. YES

8. A roll of paper towels cut in half. No, but I do have a stack of cheap washclothes. No papertowels anywhere in our house.

9. Any overturned bottle in the process of draining the last bit out. YES.

10. A pencil less than three inches long. YES.

11. A marked-down crushed box of cold cereal. Not right now, no.

12. Any item repaired with a twist-tie, paper clip or hanger. Yes.

13. A shower curtain repaired with duct tape. Not duct tape.....but repaired, yes.

14. An impressive stash of one of the following items: No. I just made my oldest throw away all the toilet paper tubes he was saving for his teacher's guinea pig. They never managed to get to school and I was tired of looking at them.

15. A screwdriver with a tip that has been reground several times. NO...all new tools a friend bought me when I moved in.

16. A started shopping list on the back of a utility bill envelope. Yes.

17. A stockpile of .44 per can tuna. No, NO icky tuna! (don't ask me about my mac and cheese stash though....)

18. A started container of "refrigerator stew" in the freezer. Nope, just ate it 2 nights ago as....leftover stew. lol

19. An indoor clothesline or wooden drying rack. NO....but I wish I had the money to get one right now.

I think if you take my yes answers...and add in my conditional yes answers....I qualify.

But...I already know I qualify. Time is money...but when I was a stay at home mom...we didn't buy toilet paper, diapers, wipes, paper towels. I just did a lot of laundry. Y'all will be happy to know we have toilet paper in the house now that no one wears diapers and I work full time. lol

You didn't buy toilet paper? Uh. I won't ask about that.

My kids were both cloth diaper and breast fed raised.

2.A squirt bottle made of homemade window cleaner. Yes, and not just window cleaner, but multipurpose cleaner, and homemade fabric refresher as well

3. A new soap bar with a sliver adhered. YES

4. A bundle of old socks in the workshop to be used as a grease rag. YES. Not for grease rag, but I use them to dust. It works really well, you put it over your hand, and can run your hand over the furniture.

5. A pair of pantyhose minus the bad leg. N/A don't wear full hose

6. A jug of vegetable broth in the refrigerator. Frozen chicken broth in the freezer. I'm going to vote yes here.

11. A marked-down crushed box of cold cereal. NO, however, when my favorite healthy cereal went on sale (Buy one get one free) I bought enough boxes to last until the expiration date, which was approx 20 boxes (I still have 2 left)

13. A shower curtain repaired with duct tape. N/A, My shower has a door.

14. An impressive stash of one of the following items: In my case it is glass jars from peanut butter and spaghetti sauce. I use them to hold various items (hair clips, change, buttons).

15. A screwdriver with a tip that has been reground several times. My Ex took all the tools when he left, out of the kindness of his heart he left me 1 of the 7 phillips' heads that we owned.

16. A started shopping list on the back of a utility bill envelope. Yes, I use the back of envelopes for numerous items.

17. A stockpile of .44 per can tuna. No, NO icky tuna!

18. A started container of "refrigerator stew" in the freezer. No, I am really good at planning out leftovers. Because I am just cooking for me, I choose things that freeze well, and immediately freeze them in individual portions. In the rare case of forgotten leftovers, they get recycled into "Dog treats"

19. An indoor clothesline or wooden drying rack. Yes, I Use my ironing board for this, or the edge of the tub, or any other surface available.

Funny thing, I copied the list from Nakoe's post, and there were several answers that I didn't have to change at all (Including icky tuna! )

Most of my answers were Yes, or N/A, the few no's were usually because I had a varying method. (such as the cereal).

I thought maybe we needed a better test. How about this one (I just made it up!)?

1. You pay more on your mortgage every month than you have to to get those interest payments down.

2. You would never buy a new car, knowing that as soon as you drive it off the lot, it loses value.

3. You pay off your credit cards in full every month.

4. On cards you do not pay off monthly, your credit cards have a zero percent interest rate.

5. You or your spouse do as many of your own home repairs as possible.

6. You think twice before going out to eat and then if you do, you look through your restaurant coupon pile.

7. You try to use all your leftovers.

8. You always look for deals when traveling, like using priceline for hotels, etc.

9. A big decision when buying a vehicle is gas mileage.

10. You pour over insurance options and make sure you are getting the best deal.

There, these are more for both sexes and more broad based. If you get 5 or more, you are a tightwad!
