The fact remains that with McCain, there was a decent chance of a conservative appointment, if there was an appointment at all. And with a conservative appointment, there's a chance of getting someone who opposes abortion. See, there's a CHANCE.

With Obama, you better believe he'll make a point to appoint someone who is absolutely PRO abortion.

But that's ok...He's going to CHANGE things...wonderful.

...and Obama doesn't have any problem telling you that whoever he appoints will absolutely uphold Roe v Wade...and if he didn't say that in black and white, his constituents would kill him and his political career would be over because the left demands that their representatives govern in a way that reflects what's important to them.

Which is why Christians should not have voted for him.

I don't think he is making a case FOR Obama - just saying the left will give commitments, so what is wrong with the right?

Mike, a lot of Christians resent their morals being exploited in this way and are disillusioned with the GOP at this point. As it relates to these specific moral issues, many have come to realize that there will not be a substantive difference no matter how they vote. The same song is not producing the same dance two generations later. I can appreciate that there is a part of our society that deeply feels that a vote for Republicans is a vote for Righteousness. Earlier in my life I may have fallen into that catgory, but I've been trying to say that that tactic is no longer finding the success that it used to have because the lack of firm results and specific promises speaks louder.

Tstew I have to disagree with you here. No one is saying vote Republican to be voting "right". What we are saying whether voting for a Republican or Democrat if either candidate openly supports what is an obomination to God, such as abortions and gay rights, then a Christian can not knowingly do that.

If the canidate of either party states they are against those things and then does not act on it, you are not responsible, IMO. But you are responsible if you knowingly vote for a supporter of obomination. Period. Dress it up any way you want but it is wrong! If you put ecomnics ahead of obominations then IMO you can't call yourself a Christian. That is Not being Christ like to vote for obominations.

If you voted for McCain/ Palin you should be ashamed of your self, also you are guilty of supporting an abomination because McCain/Palin are for gay rights which is an abomination. O btw Palin said she supported gay rights in front of 38 million people so she openly supports it..

I don't think you got that right. I never heard her say she supports gay rights.

Esther, 70 million murders is too reprehensible to me for me to be impressed by rhetorical positions or a group of people who" states they are against those things and then does not act on it". If you are not willing and depserate to act on that many murders, I don't know what you would be demming as more important. As I have stated before, I'm not sure what's more disgusting...someone who says that abortion is murder and we are committing a million murders a year, but does not aggressively act to eradicate it...or someone who genuinely states that they do not feel like abortion is murder in the legal or moral sense so they do not act to eradicate it.

And yes, many people have said that voting Republican is voting right. Both here and in churches all over the country. The GOP has been counting on that for decades now. I'm sorry, the promises that they make and the positions that they take when asked a direct question do not match the way they are being portrayed here and in conservative circles everywhere.
