Well, it was a one time occurrence.  I don't normally go over budget, so it's not like a make a habit of flouting his financial wishes. But I marched in, plopped all the receipts on his desk, cheerfully showed him everything I'd bought, and said, "Happy Anniversary." I think I added something to the effect of, "It'd be cheaper if you'd buy me a present next time."
It was the next day or so, too. I gave him plenty of time to at least give me a card--or even a phone call!!!!
It was about 5 years ago, so it was pre-forum. Can't blame that one on the evil influences of liberal discussion. 
P.S. I didn't use credit cards either. I paid cash.

Okay, ONE time it did, because I spent a truckload of money on myself because I was mad at my husband for forgetting our anniversary, but that is another topic.
