Re: Snooping on a WPF church
What the Pastor with the wandering piano player should do is call the other pastor and tell him that he will be sending the piano player there in a spirit of Christlike love. Kinda overcoming evil by doing good. It will rid his church of someone who is not happy and at the same time bless the other guy with a future disgruntled saint, because all pastors know that eventually the person who finds fault with you will eventually find fault with someone else.

AMEN!!!!! There a very, very few exceptions to that rule! We have seen that play out here, over and over again. From both directions. Those who come from another church (locally) because they are unhappy, and those who leave here to go to another church (locally) because they are unhappy. Most all eventually move on, again.
DISCLAIMER! I know that there are exceptions to every rule, and that some people have been in very bad situations. I am not talking about those situations.

You are correct, Diz. I experienced this a number of times when I pastored.
However, it's not just church - I interview people who bad mouth their previous employer like you wouldn't believe! I guess they think that will impress me, or create some camaraderie, but quite the opposite! I generally file those resumes in the round file!

You are exactly right, it generally is a character defect or flaw that carries over to every area of life. Not necessarily a spiritual condition, except in the sense that our emotions and our character should be shaped and influenced by God.
Bottom line for me, and this was a very, very hard lesson for me personally to learn, I spent years trying to make someone happy: Unhappy people are just that, unhappy, and there is nothing that anyone outside of themselves ( and God) can do to change that.

Amen, and happiness is a choice. No one else makes me unhappy or happy but me.

I haven't pastored as long as others, I have learned much, yet still have much to learn, but that is one rule/principle that I have seen over and over fulfilled every time.
Sometimes Pastors are blessed when you come, other times we are blessed when you go.
