Re: Growing Up Mennonite
I don't know the difference between Mennonite and Amish, but the Amish in Lawenceberg, Tenn are some fine folks. We went up there last year and stopped at one farm in particular. We all gathered around to talk to them. One Amish brother noticed my wife sitting in the car and inquired about her. He was told that she was not well. He said he would like to meet her. So... he came to the car and introduced himself and asked how she felt. He asked me about the prognosis. I told him, then he whistled very loudly. People came from everywhere. They gathered around my car, held my wifes hand and prayed for her in German. or Dutch. The most touching thing I ever saw. Of course, I cried like a baby. I have a deep respect for those Amish brothers and sisters.
