Now: they go to the movies, bowling, the men wear beards--even on the platform. No more sleeves to the elbow and nobody goes around looking for splits in girls skirts--nobody cares. Girls can have there nails done (in clear polish) and it's ok to wear foundation. I really respect my former pastor for saying "Hey, there is no Scripture for all this--it's based on principle" But for all that I still could not attend--1) it's 12 hrs away 2) I wear pants & cut my hair and wear a little makeup--I don't pierce my body thought anyway, that's what would have to change for me to go to a UPC--even after all the changes I have seen I just don't see that happening--I do love all the people I know that are in and respect there convictions. One of the churches up in Nashville is not real strict, if I lived near to it maybe I would attend. Don't know.

Thanks for asking!!

well i am 41 and have been in upc since i was three years old.. well all the beliefs have changed drastically. it is a sad thing that we have compromised in our churches, we have now tolerated the stuff that we didnt tolerate years ago. i will not compromise and i will not tolerate the stuff that i have been against years ago. i will hold to my standards, in fact i am more conservative now than i have ever been,
everybody can do as they please, but i will not chage, but it does not mean that i am going to be judgemental towards people who have changed their beliefs,

i do have to say that if you changed your plan of salvation than i know you are definently wrong, that is one thing you should not change if you leave the onesness doctrine,
stay firm on the "ONE LORD, ONE FAITH , AND ONE BAPTISM",

there is no other way in heaven whereby ye must be saved,

stick to the oneness, if you have gone trinitarian, shame on you, you know better than that, this is not to the lady i have quoted this is to anyone who have changed, keep pressin on

Well, for me it is more about the man-made standards than the doctrine even though I am not one to put anyone in hell. I would much rather go to a op church than any but the problem is they would put me in hell or just tell me I am not welcome to participate or go up on the platform. I attended Christ Church in Nashville for 6 years before moving 1 1/2 hrs away--I live in a small town now and there are no upc or oneness churches here. Funny though I told my current pastor if he would not baptise my youngest (when time) in the Name of Jesus I would take him up to Christ Church he laughed and said he would not split hairs over it. Of course he assures me he only believes in one God. Sometimes we as humans are just doing the best that we can. Blessings to you.

Do you have any radio's in the house or in your cars? How about a telelphone? (And just as TV's are to the old analog land lines, cellphones and VOIP (vonage/magicjack/skype) are to phones)
Radios used to be strictly forbidden and telephones were forbidden in many churches.
Times change. Technology changes. Cultures change.
