Yes ma'am... that is actually my point.

I was taught to be a gentleman... but I was never taught the fine art that your husband had mastered.

I thought people just did right because it was right. I didn't know that you had to make people do what was right.

If it was late then everybody just goes home? Right?

That's what we did... and I thought everyone else did too.

The girls in my house have been known to say "Girls rule... boys drool"

I have taken that as a lesson plan for my son. I tell him... "Girls rule... WHEN boys drool". I tell him that you have to remain in control of the situation. Not in control of people... per se... but in control of the situation. When it is time to go home... then don't take no for an answer. When lines are beginning to be crossed you have to take control of that situation....

These are things I was ill equipped to execute.

I have talked to the young boys in church before and told them... Do you plan on being the head of your household? Yes was the answer, of course.

If you plan on being the head of your household then you MUST be the head of your dating relationship. Your place as spiritual leader begins when you ask her out that first time. That is where you set the stage for the future.

Totally agree with you on this - "You have to remain in control of the situation, not in control of people." That's the most level headed thinking!

this is another example of why is seems that clarity can be realized with just a small change in a viewing angle/perspective....rather than:

"I need to bash your stupidity with my enlightenment".

This is why many of us parents have to BLOW UP conventional wisdom that "dating for FUN is just fine for our children".

You do not land on WISDOM by falling off the cliff of frivolous endeavors. The most important things in life should be pursued the most thoughtfully.

Amen... 30 minutes of good solid teaching along these lines would change many boys lives forever which would go on to change the lives of their future wives & children. Perhaps generations would be affected.

Of course... more would be better... but it is amazing how far just a little bit of teaching will go and yet this type of teaching is nearly non existent.

My wife and I have often considered designing and teaching such a course. It is in severe need today. After all... it is the word that changes us... teaching changes our lives forever.

I agree!!!!! Design the course!!!!

Just leaving it up to "God's will" doesn't do it.

Indeed... And, on top of that, teaching our youth is God's will
