I'm interested on any scriptures you might have that show Gods against makeup.
Ask someone wearing a tie.

thread is about cosmetics. not hair, ties or hot pants. When folks avoid responses, they change the subject.

Do prostitutes wear make up? Why?

Do prostitutes wear shoes? Why?

BTW the reason for bringing up the other points was the assertion that such stuff was about modesty and later called Tradition and that those that called it tradition got rid of the standards.....not just an argument about makeup, but the response goes to that point you raised....Even the more conservative amoung us have gotten rid of a lot of "standards" that were once called modesty but later called tradition. Does that mean we never should have gotten rid of them?

Also many of our old timers never did have all these standards. Many of the old timers were fine with jewelry. It was another segment that fought against it. Your argument would be more true if and only if every one always believed in these standards.

  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Topic is cosmetics.

in the discussion of appearance a lot of thoughts come up.

There is a new industry in Russia called the bride industry. women with better looks including cosmetics get higher rank in marriages. The lower level are called roadside girls. In a carnal world, women still extensively have a social currency called looks. it is enhanced and manipulated for a form of sensual power.

Every one believes in standards. No exceptions. Goth use a lot of black. some standards are huge quantities of piercings. Firemen shave and wear uniforms.

Certain corporate folks in some industries have different hairlengths than others. I know some conservative banks that have never hired a man with even a mustache or ring that is not a wedding ring. A braclet for a man would end an interview quickly.

The use of cosmetics doesn't come from the bible and the requirement for it to be a standard, has to come from somewhere else. From a clinical psychology viewpoint, it is incredibly simple to see what is behind it.

How does that relate to what the bible says about cosmetics?

So what does that have to do with what I posted?

Are you saying or admitting that the standard against cosmetics is not biblivcal?

Again I still don't see how this relates, refutes or addresses what I posted

Since you've studied physc I would think you'd also know that it's a proven stat that the better looking people (men included) get promotions quicker than the not as good looking folks.

Presidents tend to be over 6' tall.

Good looking people have a social currency called looks. In our society, women are pressured to "look their best" by applying makeup - no one is denying that.

And...where's that scripture?

On the flip side, men are pressured to look a certain way too. Like our conferences look like senate in session.

Where do we get clean shaved, colored shirts and suits from? Why have ties gotten longer over the years and why are the brothers wearing them?

I'll tell ya, because the WORLD standards dictated to us that is presentable and respectable. They tell us to LOOK a certain way.

I appreciate you being so forthright and plain with this declaration concerning the source of how you make your decisions.

It is very helpful.

You still wear robes? Or, coats of skin like God made Adam and Eve? If not, where do you get your idea of how to dress when you go to a business meeting?
