Come on now. That's just an artificial distinction you are creating.
When you ask God for something, arent you praying to Him? Prayer is communication with God.
If people just always receive the HG automatically, as you insist, there would be not need for Jesus to say He'd give it to those who ask Him. Besides, what about the many, many people (millions?) who have
asked God for the baptism of the Holy Ghost, (while
praying at a church altar),
and received it?!
You sound like you're trying to imply that their experience was unbiblical.
