5% Mandatory Offering Required on top of 10% Tithe

He stated that the shekel of the sanctuary represented the tithe, and so therefore half of the tithe (an half shekel) should be given as an offering.

I was taught that for years; however, I have grown to understand that "giving" cannot be mandated.

AMEN! Just like holiness cannot be legislated. Holiness is taking on the nature and character of Christ.

Maybe not, but the Bible speaks of Him putting rings in the ears of His people.

Really.....? Post the scripture! Here's a scripture were God tells Israel to remove their jewelery. Whenever God received Israel, after they committing some whoredom, God always demanded that they remove their jewelery!

The LORD had said to Moses, "Tell the Israelites, 'You are impossible to deal with. If I were with you, I might destroy you at any time. Now take off your jewelry, and I'll decide what to do with you.'"

I prefer alternative scriptures where the prodigal put a ring on his son's finger, and the Lord promised a crown to those who overcome.

I would like to see scriptures and the context whereof you speak because this was not a consistent policy or behavior of Christ.

In other words, God has no problem with His people wearing jewelry.
Some preachers seem to have that problem but God doesn't.

Dude, are you feeling okay? Concerning jewelry, Exodus 3 has the Lord commanding the Israelites to PUT ON jewelry... NOT take it off.

22But every woman shall borrow of her neighbour, and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: and ye shall put them upon your sons, and upon your daughters; and ye shall spoil the Egyptians.
