Re: It was never about money...

It probably was more about jockeying for position in what Judas thought would be an Earthly Kingdom. Perhaps he was trying to force Jesus' hand at revealing Himself as the King of the World. The one that would overthrow Rome and once again make Israel the nation that all others would be subject too.

I think there were probably more than one reason Judas betrayed Jesus but it's interesting to explore the possiblities. I would agree with what you and Falla have proposed but there may be a couple more reasons as well.

Judas may have been thinking he would have an place among the Jewish religious elite if Jesus wasn't the Christ.

I formed my hypothesis because when Judas saw that Jesus was not resisting nor defending Himself nor rising to power, Judas went back to the Priests and said it was a mistake.

Re: It was never about money...

Rhoni, these words came to mind (I had to look them up to be exact) and maybe you can use them...Not sure they are a perfect fit but here they are:

And, so Arachne, rival of her fame,
might learn the folly of her mad attempt,
from the great deeds of ancient histories,
and what award presumption must expect...
(From Ovid’s Metamorphoses) – Book 6.

Rhoni, don’t allow yourself to be turned into "a spider" because of something you've devised. Our God is gracious and loving. Don't contend with Him or yourself in matters to which you already know the answers. Satan is the one that kills, steals, and destroys - not those who are trying to help you.

You know Jesus Christ is God and not Minerva/Athena. Sometimes a mythological story can instruct like a parable. Don’t contend with THE God or the gifts that are within you. Don’t let your life become an imbroglio of your own devices. Don’t even let that happen to a thread.

Blessings are not always in disguise. Continuously look for them and expect to find them in unlikely places.

OK. Now I can go to sleep. I hope this helps and doesn't hinder. God bless.
