Amazing things happen when we choose to pray! =)

But I was raised to always dress up for church, unfortunately I see this trend dying.

But like you said above about the new convert who dressed up for church, it was like a boost to her self confidence.

For some it's like a shot in the arm to their self dignity.
Yes, I am sad to see the church looking like a concert in the park, JMO.

And, YES, women need some self-confidence and a normal women just wants to feel like a lady. She wants acceptance. She wants healing from a wounded heart.

It is so beautiful to see this woman, in our church, changing.

I was in one of the back rooms and she came in and began talking to me. I touched her on the arm, as is my way when I'm talking to someone. She looked at me like, "You like me. You are my friend!" I loved that!!! I love that she is getting some inner healing. I don't know her past, but something has hurt her badly.

You have some excellent life stories in just these last few posts Pressing.

I love this remark, let's you know you were in the vain of God and doing what the Lord would have to do. Perhaps she has never had any positive attention in her life.

Glad she found God and is going to your church.

Yes, I do. I want to share something God showed me this morning. Hope it's not too long. Basically, getting calls about things, reading confusing things happening here, Rick Warren for example, etc., etc. I was really down this morning.

The Lord brought that song to me - I need your mercy, I need your grace, I need your hand leading the way.......

Then He reminded me of the first part of Psalm 31:

In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed (confused); deliver me in they righteousness. Bow down thine ear to me: deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for a house of defense to save me. For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me..."

Then He reminded me of the first part of Psalm 91:

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."

The "secret place" is His presence.

He was saying, in effect, "These are the two portions of scriptures I keep giving your over and over through the years. You have to believe them."

Then He reminded me of Abraham and how he went to sacrifice his son. He impressed this thought and I wish I could make it sound how it felt - "Abraham didn't understand everything, but in his heart he wanted to trust in God. He wanted to do whatever God asked of him. He wanted to believe and obey. If your heart can be that way, you have nothing to fear."

Beautiful!!! So, whatever confusion comes our way - He has a way of directing us, talking to us, helping us!!!

And yes, I am glad God brought her to a place where people will love her!!

Re: Do Your Kids Dress Like Bankers?

Pentecostal churches are one of the few churches left where the men are kind of expected to wear suits!

I always had a problem trying to figure it out. On one hand it is a sin to wear anything that enhances your appearance (jewelry, rings, etc.), and then they turn around and dress to the nines for church and conferences. Go figure!

I felt guilty at first for not wearing a suit to church, but now I'm totally comfortable.

I dress business casual for work, so my church attire is the same as my work attire. I don't dress for church like I'm ready to go to the park and play with my grandchildren!
