As the saying goes ... garbage in = garbage out. Unfortunately a lot of christians think what they listen to, watch or read doesn't affect them ... it does.
Haven't heard KOL, don't really care to after reading some lyrics and song titles.
Read this thread it is an eye opener.
They were born in the home of a Pentecostal Pastor. Said pastor/father had a bad fall, the Kings, (all brothers I believe) became bitter towards God, the UPCI and all things Pentecostal (or some such)
They are now a highly acclaimed Rock band with Pentecostal soul and backslider’s attitude.
Some here know their family and even them I believe. I feel greatly for these boys because they have suffered greatly at the hands of our "religion" and I mean that sincerely. I wish them great success and pray they find their way thru the bitterness to a relationship with God despite what they have suffered.

I knew they came from a UPC background ... even named an album "Because of the Times."

Ferd....i don't believe all of your facts are correct. for one...they are not all brothers. as for them becoming bitter towards God....i consider it rash to judge someones heart....but further i would ask how many of us haven't become bitter at some time towards God?
i am not defending them, thier lives, music, choices....they are all of age and can speak for themselves....but would rather people post facts that are true...not rumors...not opinions. if its an opinion...then say that...but to call these things as facts is simply not true.
regarding "our religion"...are you refering to the UPCI?

Did you read the beginning of this thread? There are some details and several people who know their family personally. Ferd didn't just make that up.

In fact i did say "I believe" when I suggested they were all brothers... because I am not sure of that.
for the "bitter" comment, I believe they themselves are "on record"
As it relates to "our religion" I would include the UPCI but extend it beyond that to the larger OnenessPentecostal "religion"
my friend, I dont play fast and loose with facts as a general rule. What I have said I am comfortable standing by.
It is no slant on these boys. If anything the indictment is to our charge.

Kings of Leon is an Americanalternative rock band. The members of the band are Anthony Caleb Followill, Michael Jared Followill, Ivan Nathan Followill, and Cameron Matthew Followill, however, the band members go by their middle names.[1]After various jobs, the brothers moved to Nashville in 1996. They formed a band in 2000 with their cousin Matthew Followill. The band claims that their music was influenced equally by their religious upbringing and Jack Daniels Whiskey... Caleb recalls listening to "Crimson and Clover" by Tommy James and the Shondells with his uncle, and cites it as the song which really made him pay attention to popular music. This song is later referred to in 'California Waiting' with the lyric "crimson and clover pulling overtime". They were members of the West Tennessee Choir for a short time mainly assigned to falsetto ranged harmonies

Nathan, Caleb, and Jared Followill were born to Ivan Followill, a Pentecostal evangelist minister, who traveled around the South. Caleb and Jared were born in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, while Nathan and cousin Matthew were born in Oklahoma City. [4] The brothers spent much of their youth traveling around the South with their father, Ivan, a traveling United Pentecostal Church preacher and their mother, Betty Ann, who taught them when they were not in school. The boys learned to play drums, guitar and bass as children while performing gospel songs in the church. According to Rolling Stone magazine, "While Ivan preached at churches and tent revivals throughout the Deep South, the boys attended and were occasionally enlisted to bang on some drums. They were home-schooled or enrolled in small parochial schools. Except for a five-year stretch when they settled in Jackson, Tennessee, the Followills spent their childhoods driving through the South, camping for a week or two wherever Ivan was scheduled to preach."[citation needed]
Nathan, the eldest of the brothers, graduated from Christian Life Academy (a private school that is now defunct) in Henderson, TN. Caleb dropped out mid-Junior year to pursue a job in construction but later quit to work on music with his brother Nathan.[5] Despite their religious background, they say their father would often play rock records in the car by musicians like the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, and Bad Company while their mother was not around.[4] After they signed with RCA in 2002, the boys invited their cousin, Matthew Followill, to join the band as the lead guitarist.[4]
