Around here, if you want the absence to be excused, you must supply a doctor's note. You don't have to get permission to miss--I've never done that. Just a simple notification phone call will do, as a courtesy. But it won't be an excused absence without the official note. And they do have to attend 180 days of school (field trips and special days count) per year.

The point here is that the President's say so should not carry more weight than the father's say so regarding the choice he has made for his daughter. The "humor" at writing a note to her teacher says otherwise.

Given the President's track record; we should pay attention. Out of the mouth (when not using a teleprompter), the speaketh.

I get it. I just think it's too serious a tone for a small gesture. Inny waze.

I saw this among some of the youtube comments. Quite interesting....

1-Everyone's talking about the little girl, not that Obama said he would need reelection in order to do anything on an important issue to his voters.
2-Little is an accident with the president...most of it is stagecraft. He walked down there himself to give the note to the girl who magically appeared at the edge of the row while daddy asked some silly question.
3-Her name is Kennedy Corpus! Am I the only one who knows any latin.
There is a definite probablity that this was a staged PR event.
