If I was the one who built their house on sand, why I would have been blown away, thinking that I was indeed without the Holy Spirit.Thank God for Jesus,he's my Rock. However I would like to speak in a prayer language to my Jesus.I am of the firm belief that since Satan is prince of the air,I do not speak certain request that I make to the Father out loud, into the air.Just like with Daniel's prayer request for an answer and his prayer was delayed because of the Prince of this world.
Well if you will pray for me to receive this from the Holy Spirit.

Ok, I dont know how to "multi quote" posts but I want to encourage you on something you said here, and in post #35 (Qoute: "I suppose the Lord will give me that prayer language when I'm really going to need it.So for now I will pray in secret(not out loud) and the Lord will hear, and do you know why?
Because he lives in me and knows what I need before I even ask.Wow,now that's amazing.")
For me, speaking in tongues was a challenge at first...because I didnt know how to "let God control". And it bothered me even more when people would say things to me like "its your gift...just recieve it". I felt like I was "working" for it, and that is surely not what God intended.
I was praying with my pastors wife (at the time) and she instructed me to clear everything from my mind, concentrate on Jesus, and praise him out loud with my mouth. I say this...out loud with my mouth...because of what you said in post #35. You have to literally speak for God to "change" your language into Perfect Praise. Speak those things that are true about him...praise him from your heart...and he will "change" your words.
Does that make sense?

Many tend to believe the Upper Room prayer meeting wasn't just people sitting around, silent and gazing toward the heavens waiting for the Spirit to descend upon them.

Re: What do you believe
Yea its a promise exactly meaning he will give it to you before you die......The tongues were just a sign thats all see they did not have to bible then so they needed proof...We have the bible today that is our proof....The Holyghost is the promise not tongues...

Yes that makes since.
Now some would say,If you don't speak in an unknown prayer language your not really filled with the Holy Spirit...
This right here is why some don't believe the gifts are still working today. They believe that this happened on day of Pentecost and that's it.
I don't believe that God gave the gifts and then took them back.
However if I was a Baby Christian this could mess me up a bit.I might not believe that I was filled with the Holy Spirit,if I didn't utter a word in unknown tongue.
You can see how this teaching could be a stumbling block for someone new in Christ?
I knew people spoke in Tongues,I assumed this was a Gift.I still believe this is a gift.
How is this going to change my walk with Christ?I don't need proof that he lives in me.Now if I needed some kind of proof from God on whether or not I am truley Holy Ghost indwelled, wouldn't that be like"Ok God,you said if I accept Jesus as my personal savior that you would come in and abide with me,but before I believe you abide in me,give me a sign that what you said ,you will really do?
I'm not disputing anyone,I would love to pray in unknown tongue but if I do,then I'd be wondering what in the world I prayed for. Then I'd be trying to figure out how to get the gift interpretation of Tongues.
I'm serious.

I can only speak from my personal experience and wanting all God has for me . The desire to speak, or being taught it was necessary, wasnt a stumbling block for me as a babe in Christ. Just made me seek after God with my whole heart. If this was something God gave to His own...I wanted it. Weather I "needed it" or not. Also, for me, when I pray/praise in tongues it brings such a peace of completeness I dont wonder about what was said/prayed for. I just trust that it was Perfectly Spoken in God's own language, way better than I could have tried to say alone.
It has been a wonderful experience that has deepened my relationship with my Redeemer. I encourage you to seek him with your praise, and experience this awesome Gift. It is truly out of this world.
