I'm all for discussion of these things. If your talking about CJ or Aquilla, because they match the definition of "apostolic" accordeing to AFF guidelines.

As long as the discussion is centered on scripture, I'm all for questioning our interpretaions. Truth will stand, truth is not in danger.

You just condemned yourself sad to say...if the Spirit can only be given by the hands of the Apostles (not a bible teaching), then you do not have the Spirit and that means you are unsaved...if what you said was true.

Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
Rom 8:3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,
Rom 8:4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Rom 8:5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
Rom 8:6 To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
Rom 8:7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot.
Rom 8:8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 8:9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
Rom 8:10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Rom 8:11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Rom 8:12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.
Rom 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Rom 8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
Rom 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!"
Rom 8:16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

While KWSS may be a bit acerbic at times, I do have to point out that what he said was that there are "no apostles around today..." to lay hands on folks to cause them to "speak in tongues."

Salvation brought by the Spirit of God wasn't what he was discussing, just "speaking in tongues."

And his earlier questions from a similar thread have gone unanswered - no one has been able to show that what "we hear in churches today" is the same thing as recorded in Acts 2 or even Acts 10.

There can be no "iron sharpening iron" if someone's wielding a piece of play-doh.

This forum is a great place--sometimes. Just not as often as it used to be.

I won't discuss doctrine with KWSS. I've learned not to even though I'd been discussing this very thing, the initial evidence doctrine, for a few weeks on CARM.

Re: What Happened to AFF?

I think some of what happened to AFF is Facebook.

I know that personally, I check in at FB more often lately than I do here at AFF, altho I do make it a point to come here at least once a day to see what's going on. But sadly, that's about all it takes to keep up here anymore.

I don't know what the answer is. But what I do know is that I've made some terrific friends here on AFF and even those who I haven't really become personal friends with, there are alot on here who I have the deepest love and respect for. These are NOT relationships that I ever want to lose!!

No solutions to offer, but I like AFF and would hate to see it end.

AFF isn't going anywhere. People come and go as they please-- but the hosting will continue to remain paid for those who want to stick around here.
