I walk among the crowds and we are praying with people. It's a little different than sitting in the back and scoping the place out. The ones in the back and not getting involved are the ones with the problem, IMO.

I would say anywhere - -not just church.
You can dress up and look fabulous - not against that and I don't believe God is either, but if THAT is what is most important to you when you go out, then that's where it's wrong. Once again, a matter of the heart.

I agree. I used to put my lipliner in my bra, so I wouldn't leave home without it. LOL! So, I get that.
I'm just wondering if we are judging this group of people by a yearly meeting or a church service. Not sure I would put it down to say they live this way 24/7.
When I was growing up we always dressed up for church. We felt it was the right thing to do when attending church. I think I've always liked that. I want it to be a special time.

I'm not judging people at all. I'm judging the doctrine. The doctrine that it's wrong to wear jewelry, it's wrong to wear makeup, it's wrong to dress immodestly because you're drawing attention to yourself.... and then all of this other stuff goes on and no one blinks an eye.
That's a double standard, and that's what drives me nuts.

I do see your point on the "no jewelry", but wearing "bling on the clothes" - Does anyone do that anymore? LOL! Anyway, I don't think dressing up for church services or General Conferences is immodest or hypocritical in the least, JMO.

LOL!
I'm on the phone with my daughter and she is saying that you should always dress your best to see God. He wants us to be proud of who he is. That means that I am respecting God. If you went to see the Queen of England you would dress up. If you went to a Christmas party would you dress up? It's all in your attitude and how you carry yourself. I'm not going to dress like a trash bag so that my husband will be bored with how I look. If you look nice when he met you and you end up dressing like trash, you are changing who you were when you met him. He isn't going to want that. Women wonder why their husbands start looking around. My husband tells me, "I'm so proud to be with you. You make me look good." He's proud that God gave him someone with class. We are supposed to be representing God's kingdom. What about executives in the world? Who is going to respect them if they don't dress decent. If you dress tacky and not your best, how is that representing God and the company you work for? Do people want us to dress like the Quakers and like God doesn't bless us? I'm not dressing like someone on Little House on the Prairie.
Stop worrying about that and start winning some souls!

Has anyone here said anything about dressing like trash or tacky?
I think UPC women are some of the most CLASSY women there ever has been.
Dress classy, but not showy - - big difference! Attitude is the major difference.
