I am thinking some "visitor long britches" is probably the way to fix this.

And for the ladies perhaps a selection of "visitor uncut wigs"

Oh man this has got me just brimming over with ideas....

wonder what materials are best suitable? we would want them to be disposable for health and safety concerns.

Maybe a long sleeve paper shirt with preattached paper tie that buttuns or zips up the back for guys...

I am seeing a whole industry here with big potential....

Maybe the Pentecostal Publishing House can offer these,

or Home Mission pastors, or missionaries in foreign countries could be provided with packages of these.

Sis. Alvear is not UPC but she has mentioned preaching to folks who are not dressed "properly." Maybe she could carry some of these with her and ask folks to dress "properly" before she will preach to them.

That may actually be a health department issue, however business can set dress standard for their establishment.

I guess the question is:

Does it make sense to ban people from coming into church that don't dress like the church expects their members to dress?

To me the answer is absolutely not. God isn't offended by their clothes so why are you?

Are you comparing restaurant rules to the church? The Army makes you do lots of pushups. Should we make people do pushups when they enter the sanctuary?

In my eleven years of pastoring, I've seen well over a thousand visitors, none of them who didn't wear shirts. That would be awkward, I'll admit. But shoes? No problem. We had a teen guitar player who would frequently play barefoot.

When Chuck Smith started reaching out to the hippy movement, hundreds of them came into his church and nearly all were barefoot. The board demanded that Chuck require shoes because the oils of the feet of the hippies were ruining the carpet. Chuck told them to buy new carpet and leave his hippies alone!
