Usually it is powered by the "other guys"
This should be obvious since an idle process just waiting for the right conditions to "do something" is called a "daemon".

So how many good pentecostals would burn their computer is they knew it has a hundred or more daemons running around it at any given time?

It is a box holds a lot of information and when you think it is safe it "crashes" and keeps your stuff.
