What do you think of this church website?

I helped a friend of mine starting a UPC church in Baytown.

I used the general wordpress layout of our church and did some modifications to make it theirs.

Its not a complex site due to them being a new plant.

Re: What do you think of this church website?

This sounds interesting, in a good way

During the ministry of Jesus he knew how to eat and party with folks (seriously its Biblical!)

We believe that one of the most important jobs of the ministry is hospitality. We have folks over for dinner and socializing almost weekly (sometimes more).

Our goal is to get to know you and your family. We hope that by opening up our lives to you, you will become our friends. We regularly invite folks to our “Dinner with Pastor!” events, but if we forgot to invite you just give us a call and we will gladly give you the time we are holding our next event at our house.

We may ask that you bring something reasonable like a dessert, bag of ice, or a few 2 liters of cola since there will usually be a group of folks. When you get to our home its our hope you relax, kick back, and make friends. Enjoy our time of fellowship, singing and fun times that happens when we get together!

God Bless!

Re: What do you think of this church website?

Apoc,

I just had time to take a quick look to see if it passed my basic test for church websites and it passed with one possible exception.

One of my pet peeves is church websites that not only don't have an address on the home page but many don't even say what town or state they are in! Your website does a good job of giving this info.

I also like that there is a pic of the pastor and his wife on the home page The only question I have is that I did not see the pastors name on the front page nor did I see on any of the radio buttons a link to info about the pastor or staff. I think most folks going to a church website want to know about the pastor by seeing a short bio. Maybe it is there and I just didn't recognize which button it would be under.

I will try to find time later to check out the rest of the radio buttons at the top. I like how they look and where they are. They are easy to find and read.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Nice web site. I'm not familiar with WordPress though. Easy to navigate.

Great site.

I like the "Our Beliefs" section.

Re: What do you think of this church website?

I enjoyed looking at the site and it was easy to get around. But here are my 2 cents worth.

I don't think I would put the nursery under the worship heading....just a thought. And, man look at all those RULES if you want your child to join the nursery, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Also unless I am dumb, and I could be, there might be a typo in the following sentence, if not you may want to word it differently so that the normal person, may not go huh?

We provide a private means of contacting you if necessary through a uor video projection system that displays a assigned number you recieve when checking in your child.

I too get frustrated when i can't find the street address including the city AND state of the location. I see this a lot on church web pages.

Since this church is new I understand that thee wouldn't be many pics yet but good and current pics add a lot, but not pics of EMPTY pews......that never looks inviting.
