Why not the last sentence? You should have seen me a few times when we (ok, just myself) would run into someone at a fast food joint and they would go into full "shun" mode. It is great fun to actually walk toward them and watch them react like a vampire to a cross.

I should seriously try this!!!

Also, in my experience, even though I "knew" how we were supposed to treat people that "left the church" when I was there, I only knew how I treated people. I had no clue how others did it, and I certainly had no clue what it felt like either!! Some politely shun, like they are sorry they have to do it because they really love me and wish they could talk to me and find out how I am doing. Some act like they hope I burn in hell. Hey, maybe they think THEY will burn in hell if they act nice to me, thus why they "react like a vampire to a cross" as Randy quoted.

What is funny, and not unexpected, is that the ones who acted the most ridicules were the ones who actually bad mouthed the pastor and the church FAR more than us before we actually left. Just a bunch of Bertha-better-than-you's sitting in their amen-pews.
